Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount exit looms as The Madison confirms his TV dominance and signals a move to NBCUniversal

Taylor Sheridan’s decade-long relationship with Paramount is approaching a turning point, as reports place the writer-director at the helm of a broader shift to NBCUniversal by 2029. In the meantime, his latest series for the studio has become a standout, underscoring why his name sits at the center of modern TV drama.

The Madison, a six-episode drama headlined by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, wrapped its first season in March to positive notices. Critics praised Pfeiffer’s performance and the show’s East Coast setting, and it’s already been renewed, with a second season on the way and a third reportedly in development.

Paramount’s Yellowstone saga and its offshoots defined Sheridan’s run there, from the long-running hit to its spinoffs like 1883 and 1923, and now a new project slate that includes Dutton Ranch and other series. Other titles such as Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness, and Landman keep the creator’s footprint across the network as his Paramount partnership evolves.

Beyond TV, The Madison has helped Sheridan stay in prime streaming conversation, spending substantial time on Paramount+ charts and helping maintain his momentum as he eyes further film work, including a forthcoming project F.A.S.T. and a Call of Duty adaptation slated for 2028.

As the industry watches, Sheridan’s pace shows no sign of slowing. The NBCUniversal plan marks a new chapter, even as The Madison demonstrates his continued ability to pull in audiences and critical attention across different platforms.
