Melissa Leo is headed to Cannes with Sean Byrne’s next thriller, The Mannequin, a project from Studiocanal’s Sixth Dimension label. Byrne will write and direct the violent high‑stakes story, described as a tense chase into a brutal nightmare.
Studiocanal is lining up global sales at the Cannes market, with distribution in the UK, France, Germany, the Benelux region, Poland, Australia and New Zealand. Elevation Pictures has Canadian rights.
Byrne previously drew attention at Cannes with Dangerous Animals, which IFC Films released in the United States.
Production is slated to begin this summer, with the film produced by William Woods and Maddy Falle for Page 12 Pictures plus Kristian Moliere for Triptych Pictures. Executive producers include Steven Schneider, Phil Hunt, Compton Ross, Charlie Kemball and Jed Benedict for Sixth Dimension, and Head Gear Films packaged the project with Steven Schneider’s Room 101.
Melissa Leo is repped by Gersh, while Byrne counts The Fleming Agency, Innovative Artists, Echo Lake Entertainment and Paul Hastings among his representatives.
