The DC Universe’s new Supergirl feature is aimed for a summer launch with Milly Alcock portraying Kara Zor-El. In a CCXP interview, director Craig Gillespie reveals the film’s length stays under two hours, clocking in at roughly 110 minutes with credits.
Described as a space-faring adventure rather than a grounded Earthbound tale, the film teams Alcock with Jason Momoa’s Lobo. The screenplay is written by Ana Nogueira, with a cast that includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham in supporting roles.
Gillespie indicated they’re wrapping post-production and finalizing the sound mix as the release nears. He expressed enthusiasm for audiences to see the completed movie, signaling they’re at the “finish line” stage even as effects work continues.
The official synopsis positions Supergirl as Kara Zor-El joining forces on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice. The film is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
Looking ahead, DC Studios has additional projects in development, including a Clayface feature and a Lanterns TV series at HBO, with plans for more titles in the wider DC slate.
