Filmmaker Alex Garland is at the helm of A24’s Elden Ring adaptation, with production now underway in the United Kingdom. The Hollywood Reporter confirms a formidable ensemble is assembling around him, led by Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, and Cailee Spaeny.
In addition to those leads, the project has stacked the cast with Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Offerman. The budget has reportedly climbed to well over $100 million, eclipsing Garland’s earlier A24 project Civil War.
While specifics of the story remain under wraps, insiders suggest Garland may offer an original tale within the Lands Between, rather than a strict adaptation. The expansive world and its lore could serve as a launchpad for fresh storytelling, following recent high-profile game-to-film strategies.
Elden Ring is scheduled to hit theaters on March 3, 2028, as A24 expands its fantasy slate with Garland directing.
