Ben Stiller is looking ahead to a fresh chapter in the Meet the Parents universe, while candidly noting that not every past installment landed for him.
As audiences await Focker-In-Law, reuniting Stiller with Robert De Niro and introducing Ariana Grande, the actor reflects on how the series expanded beyond the original hit from 2000. The duo returned for Meet the Fockers in 2004 and Little Fockers in 2010, with a fourth entry now on the horizon.
The upcoming film centers on Greg and Pam Focker’s son, Henry, whose engagement to Olivia Jones—Grande’s character—unleashes family chaos. Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo are also back in familiar roles.
Stiller teased the wait between installments during Universal Pictures’ CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, joking about a deliberately long gap of about 15 years between the third and fourth films. He quipped that age has shifted the dynamic, joking that he’s now roughly the same age De Niro was in the first movie; De Niro playfully defended himself when the joke landed on stage.
Focker-In-Law is slated for a Nov. 25 release, with Grande stepping into a central role and the rest of the cast reprising their parts.
