Roth and Spall to Star in Murdering Michael Malloy, a New York Crime Thriller at Cannes Market

Archstone Entertainment is launching world sales for Murdering Michael Malloy, a Depression‑era crime thriller led by Tim Roth and Tim Spall. The project, directed by Raymond De Felitta (City Island), targets a third‑quarter 2026 shoot and will debut to buyers at the Cannes Market.

Based on a true story, Roth plays Tony Marino, a struggling bar owner who teams with a partner named Bastogne to insure Michael Malloy—portrayed by Spall—and kill him for a payout. Malloy’s resilience complicates the plan, pushing the pair toward a fraught bond and a stark, redemptive ending set in 1930s New York.

The screenplay is written by De Felitta and David Zellerford. Producers include Stephen Endelman, who will compose the score; Dan Grodnik; Louise Chater; and Jeff Wallner of Harbor Lights Entertainment and Icarus Entertainment Fund, with casting by Shakyra Dowling.

De Felitta says he has long wanted to bring Murdering Michael Malloy to life, and with Roth and Spall leading, the film blends a crime story with dark humor and a clear moral throughline. He praises the actors as true “actors actors” whose presence should sharpen the film’s edge.

Michael Slifkin of Archstone notes the project’s mix of a true‑crime premise and strong international sales potential at the market.

Roth is represented by CAA and Markham, Froggatt and Irwin, while Spall is represented by the same agencies.
