Picture Tree Intl. has taken on international sales for Bora Dagtekin’s new film, The Perfect Holiday (Der perfekte Urlaub). The Berlin-based distributor plans to unveil the project to Cannes market buyers with an early teaser in hand.
Dagtekin built a reputation for German comedies led by Elyas M’Barek, from Turkish for Beginners to Fack ju Göhte and its sequels, plus the spin-off Chantal in Fairyland, all chalking up substantial box office in Germany.
Currently in post-production, The Perfect Holiday functions as the local sequel to The Perfect Secret, the German adaptation of Paolo Genovese’s global hit. The cast includes M’Barek alongside Karoline Herfurth, Florian David Fitz, Jella Haase, Frederick Lau, Wotan Wilke Möhring and Jessica Schwarz. Lena Schömann produces, with Dagtekin writing the screenplay and Oliver Berben as executive producer; the project is supported by FFF Bayern, the FFA and the DFFF.
Constantin Film will release the film in October. Picture Tree aims for early Cannes talks and a market premiere around AFM 2026 in Los Angeles, as the team pitches a high-concept comedy that broadens the original premise while preserving Dagtekin’s ensemble humor. Andreas Rothbauer, Picture Tree’s managing director, says the project has strong international potential given the enduring appeal of the underlying story.
