Avi Nesher to Direct Wartime Memoir Sons and Soldiers for Jagman

Avi Nesher is poised to steer a film adaptation of Bruce Henderson’s best-selling wartime memoir, Sons and Soldiers, for Jagman Productions.

Jagman, led by Iris Nesher and producer Josh Green, has secured the rights to translate the New York Times bestseller into a major feature. The narrative follows a tight-knit group of German-born Jewish refugees who fled Nazi Europe, built new lives in America, and, after the United States entered the war, joined the Army as interrogators and translators before returning to war-torn Europe to aid Allied efforts.

The project centers on the Ritchie Boys, whose wartime work helped shape intelligence and battlefield outcomes, a chapter of World War II history that has long deserved greater attention.

Green described the material as urgently timely, praising the courage and ingenuity of these men who risked everything for family and country. Nesher said the film would aim for the immediacy and emotional punch of classic war sagas while offering a fresh perspective on this under-told story.

Nesher’s recent work includes the historical drama Image of Victory, with his latest feature Our Loves due to premiere in 2026. Green’s background spans producing documentaries and other projects at Macro, as the duo develops a slate of WWII-era stories.
