Exclusive: Yes Studios is moving ahead with a French adaptation of the Israeli hit Significant Other, following the UK version produced by Nicola Shindler.
French producers Babylone Hills Productions and Screenline Productions (Culte) will handle the new take, reimagining the comedy‑drama about two late‑40s neighbors—a single woman and a recent divorcee—whose lives collide after an ambulance ride following an attempted suicide and a heart attack, sparking an uneasy connection.
The original Israeli series was created by Dana Modan, Assi Cohen and Ram Nehari and aired on Yes TV, earning multiple Israeli Academy TV Awards. A UK version, brought to life with Nicola Shindler and led by Katherine Parkinson, helped broaden its international footprint.
Yes Studios previously sold the show to ITV in 2022. The company has several formats moving abroad, and Yes Studios chief Sharon Levi says the slate is gaining traction with international partners who recognize the warmth and nuance in these character‑driven comedies.
Alongside Significant Other, Yes Studios has another pair of titles headed to Germany, Bloody Murray and Who Died?, which are being remade by local producers. These moves underscore the company’s growing global reach for original Israeli formats.
