Genesis reimagines Skeletor’s origin and Eternia’s lore
Dark Horse Books teams with Mattel for a 12‑issue series that expands the history of Eternia and its most infamous villain. The opening arc, written by Rich Douek with art by Gavin Smith, is set to arrive this August.
The debut storyline centers on Skeletor, the skull‑faced warlord who leads the Evil Warriors and aims to seize Castle Grayskull to rule the planet.
Traditionally, Skeletor has been depicted as a man named Keldor, Randor’s half‑brother. Genesis will offer a fresh take on that backstory and its ties to He-Man’s world.
A Lee Bermejo variant for issue #1 is planned, alongside the main cover by Mark Buckingham. Early interior art will be shown in rough form, with color work by Fabi Marques to follow.
Future issues will expand the universe with stories from creators including Cavan Scott, Nick Roche, John Harris Dunning, Giovanni LaPietra, and Tiffany Smith.
Issue #1 arrives on Wednesday, August 5.
With a live‑action film on the horizon, the conversation around Skeletor’s on‑screen portrayal has sparked debate; this comic promises a lore‑dense entry for fans hungry for backstory.
