The Hollywood Reporter confirms David Harbour has joined Noah Centineo in John Rambo, an origin story directed by Jalmari Helander, the filmmaker known for Sisu, for Lionsgate and Millennium Media.
The project reimagines the early days of the jungle-warfighter, with Centineo portraying John Rambo and Harbour stepping into a pivotal role as Trautman, the seasoned commanding officer who helps shape the legend before First Blood.
Templeton Media and AGBO handle production, with Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani penning the script. Producers include Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, Angela Russo-Otstot and Michael Disco, while Sylvester Stallone sits among the executive producers alongside the Russo brothers, Trevor Short, Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk of Bonfire Legend.
Filming wrapped in Thailand, and Harbour arrives amid growing praise for his recent work, with additional projects on the horizon, including titles such as DTF St. Louis and more on the way.
