Barack Obama to Sit Down With Colbert in Late Show’s Final Weeks

Barack Obama will sit for a conversation with Stephen Colbert as The Late Show approaches its CBS farewell. The interview is slated for early May, and Colbert teased that this episode will mark Obama’s first Late Show sit-down connected to the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.

Obama’s appearances with Colbert stretch back to the host’s Comedy Central days, and the duo has collaborated on high-profile moments during Obama’s presidency. Colbert also moderated a notable fundraiser at Radio City Music Hall in 2024 alongside Bill Clinton.

The Late Show is branding the May 21, 2026 finale as the culmination of Colbert’s long run, with additional scheduling shifts following the final episode. The very next day, Comics Unleashed, led by Byron Allen, is slated to fill the coveted timeslot as CBS reshapes the lineup.

Construction of the Barack Obama Presidential Center began in 2021 and is poised to open to the public on June 19, following a star-studded dedication the day prior.
