CAA has signed Greta Gerwig, the filmmaker and former actor who steered Barbie toward record-breaking success, signaling a move into a high-profile adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia. Gerwig authored the script for the project, signaling continued creative leadership under a top agency.
The cast for the Narnia movie includes Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan and Emma Mackey, with Meryl Streep voicing Aslan. Netflix will release the film in IMAX venues on November 26, followed by a global Netflix debut on Christmas Day.
Barbie has grossed more than $1.4 billion worldwide, earned eight Oscar nominations including Best Picture, and won for Original Song. Its performance helped revive the theatrical market during a summer that also featured Oppenheimer.
Gerwig’s career spans acting and directing. After making her feature debut with Lady Bird in 2017, she wrote and directed Little Women, and built a reputation as a bold, versatile voice in contemporary cinema. Her team remains with Entertainment 360, Narrative and JSSK.
