Dan Levy says a follow-up to Schitt’s Creek was on his mind before the late Catherine O’Hara passed away. In a CBS Sunday Morning interview tied to his upcoming Netflix comedy, Big Mistakes, the creator explained he isn’t pursuing a sequel at the moment.
Levy described strolling through Goodwood, Ontario—the real-world stand‑in for the show’s fictional town—reflecting on the six-season hit and the emotional weight of returning to that world without O’Hara.
On the possibility, and the memory of Catherine
“No, not now,” he said when asked about revisiting Schitt’s Creek. “You can’t.” He recalled memories and a montage reel of O’Hara that he carries with him, noting how she remained a force even off screen.
The reflection came as part of coverage around Levy’s Netflix project and his reflections on the show, which ran from 2015 to 2020 and helped transform it from a cult favorite to a mainstream staple. It starred Levy alongside Eugene Levy, Sara Levy, O’Hara, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliott, Jennifer Robertson and Noah Reid, and earned 19 Emmy nominations, winning nine, including Outstanding Comedy Series.
O’Hara, a beloved actress known for SCTV, Home Alone and Schitt’s Creek, died in late January this year at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism with rectal cancer as the underlying cause.
Levy also noted he hadn’t returned to the set since filming wrapped in 2020, including the Goodwood Mercantile store that doubled as David Rose’s Rose Apothecary. The real shop now carries merchandise and even hosts a condolence book dedicated to O’Hara.
