Dan Levy has revealed that he toyed with the idea of a follow‑up to Schitt’s Creek before Catherine O’Hara’s passing, but he’s not pursuing it now. In an interview tied to his upcoming Netflix comedy Big Mistakes, the co‑creator told CBS Sunday Morning’s Anthony Mason that the notion existed, yet “No, not now. You can’t.”

The chat also reflectively wandered through Goodwood, Ontario, the real‑world setting that stood in for the fictional town. Levy noted he hadn’t stepped back onto the set since filming wrapped before 2020, including the Goodwood Mercantile store that served as Rose Apothecary on screen. The actual shop now sells merchandise and hosts a condolence book dedicated to O’Hara.

Schitt’s Creek ran from 2015 to 2020 and helped propel the show to Netflix prominence, with Levy, Eugene Levy, Sara Levy and a cast that included Catherine O’Hara, Annie Murphy and others earning multiple Emmys, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

O’Hara, beloved for her work on SCTV and Home Alone as well as Schitt’s Creek, died in late January at 71. The cause was listed as pulmonary embolism with rectal cancer as the underlying condition. Levy called revisiting that era emotionally difficult, recalling the memories he shared with O’Hara and the bittersweet feeling of moving forward without her. “It’s tough, it’s tough being back. I didn’t think that I’d have quite an emotional reaction,” he said, adding that she also had a knack for memes long before the internet made it a thing.

While the conversation touched on the possibility of a sequel, Levy made clear that there are no plans to continue Schitt’s Creek at this time.
