The Future of Film Is Female teams with Neon for a cross‑country showcase that brings three recent indie titles directed by women and nonbinary creators to five U.S. cities this spring. The tour runs from March through May, with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Portland, Houston, and Cleveland.
Leading the lineup are two feature‑directorial debuts acquired by the program. Yana Alliata’s Reeling (executive produced by Werner Herzog) and Megan Seely’s Puddysticks (produced by Alex Coco) join Shatara Michelle Ford’s Dreams in Nightmares, Ford’s sophomore feature, to complete the slate.
Founder Caryn Coleman describes Three Films, Five Cities as a flexible, rotating distribution plan designed to ensure indie titles directed by women and nonbinary filmmakers reach theater audiences. Coleman will handle U.S. theatrical releases for Reeling and Puddysticks, while Dreams in Nightmares will be announced separately.
The rollout kicked off March 18 at the American Cinematheque as part of Women Wednesday 2026. Other participating venues include The Roxy, Nitehawk, River Oaks Theater, Vidiots, Tomorrow Theater & Whitsell, and Cleveland Cinematheque.
In addition to the screenings, trailers for Puddysticks and Reeling are available online, offering a first look at the program’s range and storytelling style.
The project is backed by Neon, continuing a partnership with The Future of Film Is Female to spotlight emerging voices in cinema.
