Scream 8 Heads Into Development With Poker Face Writers Lilla and Nora Zuckerman

The Scream franchise is moving ahead with a new entry, currently under development at Spyglass. Writers Lilla and Nora Zuckerman, the sibling duo behind Peacock’s Poker Face, will handle the script for Scream 8.

The project keeps Ghostface in the spotlight and adds to a saga that Kevin Williamson helped shape, keeping the franchise in the horror conversation.

Background on the writers

The Zuckerman sisters previously served as showrunners for season one of Poker Face and have credits on a range of genre-driven series, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe, and Prodigal Son.

Scream 7 arrived in theaters on Feb. 27 and quickly became the franchise’s highest-grossing entry, bringing in more than $200 million worldwide and marking Williamson’s return to the director’s chair. Neve Campbell returned for Scream 7 after not appearing in Scream VI due to salary talks, with Isabel May portraying her daughter Tatum, who becomes a Ghostface target in the film. The S7 screenplay was written by Williamson in collaboration with Guy Busick.

Deadline first reported that Scream 8 is moving forward with the Zuckerman sisters penning the new installment. No cast or release date has been announced yet.
