North American Deal for Sorella Di Clausura, Sarajevo–Locarno Prizewinner
Ivana Mladenović’s Sorella Di Clausura has secured U.S. and Canadian rights, picked up by Big World Pictures from the sales agent B‑Rated International. The project had its world premiere in Locarno’s competition and earned the Heart of Sarajevo prize for best directing.
The feature is produced by Ada Solomon, producer of the Berlin Golden Bear winner Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn, and is eyeing an early 2026 theatrical release following a fall–winter festival run.
The story centers on Stela, an educated woman who can’t settle into steady work, whose fascination with a Balkan musician spirals into an all‑consuming fixation. In Bucharest, Vera—a rising star who runs a shop selling sexual products—tries to help, and the two worlds collide in unexpected and revealing ways.
From the director, the project is rooted in real people and explores the delicate balance between fantasy and reality, using dark humor to examine desire, money, and the gaps between dreams and daily life.
Beyond this film, Mladenović’s previous work includes Turn Off The Lights (Tribeca 2012; Sarajevo 2012) and Soldiers: A Story From Ferentari (Toronto 2017), as well as Ivana The Terrible (Locarno 2019, Special Jury Award).
