Netflix has been on the hunt for a medical drama to anchor its streaming slate, aiming for something in the vein of Grey’s Anatomy. When rights to The Resident expired, Netflix added the first season of Doc, a Fox medical drama adapted from the Italian series Doc — Nelle Tue Mani. The title has quickly become a streaming staple, climbing into the US top ten in short order.
Lead character Dr. Amy Larsen, portrayed by Molly Parker, is a tough chief of internal medicine who must relearn her craft after a car crash erases eight years of memory. The ensemble also includes Omar Metwally, Amirah Vann, Jon Ecker, Anya Banerjee, Scott Wolf, and Patrick J. Walker, delivering hospital-room tension and emotional beats.
The licensing arrangement covers Season 1 on Netflix, with Season 2 already airing on Fox. New episodes land on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, and US viewers can catch Season 2 on Fox or stream it on Hulu the day after broadcast. Barbie Kligman serves as showrunner and executive producer, joined by Hank Steinberg, Erwin Stoff, and Judith McCreary in executive roles.
While the US window centers Netflix as the home for the first season, global availability remains unconfirmed in the report, as rights were scoped for domestic use. Collider will keep you posted on any expansion news as it develops.
