DDLJ Song Welcomes Keir Starmer as YRF Announces UK Filming Return

During a Mumbai stop at Yash Raj Studios, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer was treated to a Bollywood moment when the iconic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge song Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jana Sanam played in celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary.

The moment framed a wider development: Yash Raj Films confirmed plans to resume filming in the United Kingdom, rolling out a three‑film slate that is slated to begin in early 2026 and ends an eight‑year pause between the studio and Britain.

YRF chief Akshaye Widhani emphasized the deep, ongoing ties between the two countries, noting that the collaboration is expected to generate thousands of jobs and bring sizable investment to the UK economy. Starmer, in turn, praised Bollywood’s role as a driver of opportunity under the evolving UK‑India trade framework.

Starmer arrived with a British film‑industry delegation that included leaders from the British Film Institute, Pinewood and Elstree Studios, and he also met with actor Rani Mukerji, who is married to YRF chair Aditya Chopra. The studio’s 20th anniversary in India also colors these ties, with YRF developing an English‑language stage musical adaptation of DDLJ for UK audiences, Come Fall in Love, as part of a broader East–West storytelling initiative tied to the UK‑India Free Trade Agreement signed in July.
