George Clooney and Adam Sandler walked the red carpet in London for the U.K. premiere of Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, a Netflix drama that also features Jim Broadbent. The Royal Festival Hall event drew a starry crew, including Louis Partridge, Greta Gerwig, Isla Fisher, Grace Edwards, Lenny Henry, and producer David Heyman.

The Netflix film follows Clooney as a waning film icon aiming to reconnect with his daughter during a European tour, as he accepts a lifetime achievement award at a Tuscan arts festival. Emily Mortimer helped write the screenplay, and the project had its world premiere in Venice earlier this year.

Clooney arrived with his wife Amal, while Sandler praised the chance to work alongside his longtime friend. ‘It’s been a thrill to make a movie together after so many years,’ Sandler said, adding that his character is devoted to Clooney’s persona and that Jay Kelly is a bit more self‑assured in real life. The duo traded light jokes as their director took the stage amid cheers.

Many eyes also fell on Jim Broadbent, whom Sandler called a beloved mentor. Clooney shared that he treasured the experience of making the film with Broadbent and lauded Baumbach as an “incredible director.” Baumbach noted that parts of the picture were shot in London and in Italy, describing the production as a homecoming for the team.

Critics have already pegged Sandler’s portrayal of Clooney’s weary manager as noteworthy, and THR’s Venice review framed Jay Kelly as a bittersweet buddy comedy that leans into sentimentality. The BFI London Film Festival runs October 8–19, with the movie continuing its festival run after Venice.
