A Minecraft Movie’s follow‑up is getting a new label, expanding the world in theaters next year. The studios revealed the official title via an Instagram post: A Minecraft Movie Squared. The message hints at further adventures inside the blocky universe and confirms a release date of July 23, 2027.
The project originally leading with Jack Black and Jason Momoa returns with those stars attached to headline the sequel.
Jared Hess is set to return as director and is penning the screenplay with Chris Galletta, one of the writers from the first film. Producers on board include Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Roy Lee, Eric McLeod, Kayleen Walters, Torfi Frans Ólafsson and Jason Momoa.
THR’s coverage notes that Hess’s team from the prior installment is back to shepherd the project as it moves toward production.
