Quiver Distribution has snapped up North American rights to the new heist comedy from writer-director Jeffrey Scott Collins. The film, titled Above the Line, premiered at Sun Valley and features Sophia Ali, Cedric the Entertainer, Gregg Henry, Reno Wilson, Jamie Lee, Dylan Playfair, Jackson Pace, and John Way in supporting roles.
After its festival bow, the movie will play in a limited theater run before landing on digital platforms on June 26, courtesy of Quiver. The story centers on six Hollywood hopefuls who devise a plan to snatch the Best Picture trophy from a producer who wronged them, a setup that signals a dark, tongue-in-cheek caper with noir sensibilities.
Collins previously collaborated with Cedric on Poor Greg Drowning and produced Above the Line with Ian Michaels and others. The deal was negotiated for Quiver by Larry Greenberg, with Clay Epstein of Film Mode Entertainment representing the filmmakers.
