Mick Jagger has signed on to star in Alice Rohrwacher’s English‑language Gothic drama, a project that also features Dakota Johnson, Josh O’Connor, Saoirse Ronan, Jessie Buckley and Isabella Rossellini.
Reports place the Rolling Stones frontman as the lighthouse keeper who is the father of O’Connor’s character. He arrived by helicopter on Stromboli, the volcanic island off Sicily where production is underway.
The film marks Rohrwacher’s first English‑language feature and is produced by Indian Paintbrush, with TeaTime Pictures’ Johnson and Ro Donnelly, alongside Steven Rales for Indian Paintbrush. Principal photography began in April, with about ten weeks of shooting planned across Stromboli and Rome.
Rohrwacher’s recent Cannes‑tied work, including La Chimera, has helped establish her as a major contemporary voice. The adaptation is based on Audrey Niffenegger’s illustrated gothic novel about three sisters whose lives are unsettled by the arrival of a lighthouse keeper’s son.
