Godzilla Minus Zero Teaser Makes a Statue-Size Splash at CinemaCon

Takashi Yamazaki, the director behind Godzilla Minus One, took the CinemaCon stage with GKIDS to unveil a direct follow‑up, Godzilla Minus Zero. The project is set as an IMAX presentation, marking a bold leap from the indie hit’s prior footprint.

As part of a brief behind‑the‑scenes reel, attendees learned that more time has passed since the original and that American forces may seek to deploy Godzilla once again. Yamazaki spoke through a translator, hinting at a deeper despair weighing on Japan and the Shikishima family, and asked how people fight back against an overwhelming, inescapable force. He stressed that the journey from minus to zero will not be easy and that the team is channeling all their technology and passion into this new story of despair and hope.

The teaser closes with a memorable image: Godzilla marching along the edge of the Statue of Liberty, a bold visual that has audiences buzzing. Godzilla Minus Zero is an IMAX production, and its release is slated for November 6, 2026, in theaters worldwide.

Beyond Minus Zero, Yamazaki is also shepherding a future English‑language project, GrandGear, a robot kaiju movie produced by J.J. Abrams for Sony. He remains closely tied to the prior film, including his own work on its visual effects, a standout factor that helped Godzilla Minus One win the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
