In discussions reported by ScreenRant, Cregger said he intends to respect the games’ lore while delivering something new. He warned that fans could react negatively, noting that with a property of this size, pleasing everyone is nearly impossible.
The plot follows Brian, a medical courier who becomes trapped inside a desolate hospital as a deadly outbreak unfolds in Raccoon City. The film will lean into suspense and atmosphere rather than reviving established game fighters, with Austin Abrams, Paul Walter Hauser, Kali Reis and others appearing in the cast.
To keep things fresh, Cregger is choosing not to foreground iconic RE characters, opting instead for an original lineup crafted for the screen. The aim is to honor the spirit of the series while offering a distinct narrative experience.
