Wagner Moura is stepping into a lead role opposite Kristen Stewart in Flesh of the Gods, a vampire thriller from Panos Cosmatos. A24 has landed US distribution for the project, moving it toward production.
Initial reports had Stewart set to co-star with Oscar Isaac, but industry sources say Moura will take over that part. The film is described as a surreal, glow-soaked genre piece written by Andrew Kevin Walker based on a Cosmatos story.
The production team includes Adam McKay and Betsy Koch for HyperObject Industries, along with Jonas Katzenstein and Maximillian Leo for augenschein Filmproduktion. Stewart will also produce with Maggie McLean for Nevermind Pictures, while XYZ handles executive producing and foreign sales.
This marks Moura’s return to a high-profile studio project; he recently earned a Golden Globe and Cannes prize for The Secret Agent, and this film reunites him with A24 after appearing in Civil War in 2024.
